The Old Lahaina Luau is Hawaii’s most authentic Hawaiian Luau. It presents Hawaii’s rich history and culture through an evening of traditional Hawaiian cuisine, music, hula and demonstrations. Situated by the ocean, the grounds are stunning and the amphitheatre style seating means that everyone gets a great view of the production (as well as the sunset!) This luau has a long standing reputation and so sells out fast. We recommend you book well in advance. Don’t miss out on what will surely be one of the highlights of your vacation.
Your Evening Includes
- An Aloha Greeting
On arrival, each guest is greeted with fresh flower lei, a tropical drink and a personalized souvenir program. The luau host then escorts the guests to their reserved seat and acquaints them with the grounds. Professional photographers are available to take photos against the beautiful ocean backdrop. (There is no obligation to purchase.) During the first hour, guests are invited to learn about the Hawaiian history and culture in the laulima (working together) area, along the ocean’s edge. Then everyone will gather as the kalua pig is unearthed from the Imu, a traditional Hawaiian underground oven. There will be live Hawaiian music presented by Na Leo Ho’oulu.
- The Feast (Pa’ina Ahiahi)
To begin the feast, freshly baked taro rolls and macadamia nut butter will be served at tables. Hosts will escort guests to the Hale (Eating House) to help themselves to the traditional Hawaiian cuisine buffet. Please see the Luau dinner section for details of the menu. To finish the feast, Hawaiian fruit and dessert is served at the tables. An open bar is available throughout the evening.
At sunset, the evening’s main entertainment begins. The award-winning production tells the story of the Hawaiians. The Old Lahaina Luau are proud to present the Hula as it was meant to be performed with the respect and honor of our ancestors. The show begins with the history of the Polynesian migration, then to the ancient Hawaiian Hula, and ends with the evolution to a more contemporary style of Hula dancing.
